Enrollment Process Overview
You can expect this process to take a few months to complete.
Step 1: Become "ID APproved" Prospect
There are three ways to become "ID Approved". We can scout you at a Showcase Event, you can attend one of our Recruitment Events, or we can accept video submissions. UDA Soccer staff will formally identify and invite players to move forward in the recruitment process.
Step 2: Attend Video meeting with Director of Soccer Recruitment
The next step is setting up an online video meeting with your family & UDA Recruitment Director focusing on your soccer background and aspirations.

Step 3: Attend Academic Meeting
The next step is setting up an online video meeting with your family & the UDA Academic Director focusing on your academic background and aspirations.
Requirements to apply to the University of Gloucestershire:
Note: In the UK, university degrees are typically completed in three years. With this in mind, there are no Gen Ed requirements, students enter straight into their major. It is very important that you have on your transcript AP, Honors or college credit in the degree area you wish to study. For example, if you are wanting to study business then you might look to take courses in economics, accounting, finance, marketing etc. For additional guidance on what classes to consider taking, please email Dr. Brian Haley at [email protected].
Requirements to apply to the University of Gloucestershire:
- To be considered for acceptance into the University you will need a minimum GPA of 3.0. If you can successfully achieve a 3.5 or higher GPA, you could be eligible to apply for an international merit scholarship. Any gpa under 3.00 will be considered for a foundation course prior to the three year degree course.
- In addition to GPA requirements the University will accept different academic pathways to support your application that include ONE of the following: either ACT (21), SAT Scores (1150), college credit classes, AP classes or honors classes.

- 3a: Receive Official Offer Letter & UDA Academy Deposit
- Based on the outcome of these meetings, you will be sent an official Offer Letter from UDA Soccer. Sign, return and pay your deposit to lock in your roster spot. *** Fully refundable if your application to join the university is not approved***
Step 4: University Application
Next, our staff will oversee your application to the University. In this step, you'll complete UDA's University Application and then we take this information to fill out the official University Application on your behalf. The main pieces of information required in this stage are:
We recommend students submit final transcripts ASAP after graduating. We encourage you to have all your documents ready (transcripts, reference, passport, personal statement) to be submitted to their CAS Shield for first week of July.
- PDF copy of your Personal Statement
- Reference Letter (must be on school letterhead, signed & dated)
- PDF copy of Passport (must includes your photo, nationality, and expiry information - please make sure your passport does not expire within 6 months prior to arriving into the UK and applying for the Visa or it may be declined).
- PDF copy of Transcripts (these will be unofficial at this point)

Step 5: Receive a Conditional Letter from the University
You'll receive a conditional letter from the University outlining any conditions that need to be met. Students will log into the University portal to accept the unconditional offer in a timely manner.
Step 6: Submit Final Transcripts and Meet Outstanding Conditions
- Students submit final transcripts and High School Diploma to UDA at the end of the school year. UDA submits to the University
- We recommend students submit final transcripts ASAP after graduating. We encourage you to have all your documents ready (transcripts, reference, passport, personal statement) to be submitted to their CAS Shield for first week of July 1st.
- 6a: Start the CAS Shield Process
- CAS stands for Confirmed Acceptance of Study. You need a CAS Shield in order to get your own personal CAS Shield number, which is required for your Visa application. The CAS letter comes from the University. The CAS letter is NOT your Visa.
- Please note, the last date for the University to issue a CAS is during the first week of August.
- You will need to allow at least six weeks from getting a CAS letter to the University to the visa arriving. You need your CAS letter by mid-july (July 15) to start the Visa application on gov.uk to make sure you have enough time for a September arrival.
- 6b: Acceptance to the University of Gloucestershire
- You will receive an unconditional letter from the University indicating you are full accepted!
- Be sure to check out this helpful information for International Students. University of Gloucestershire offers a range of support services to help international students settle into life in the UK, and to fully benefit from their time at the University.
- And here is information about the International Welcome Centres. The international welcome centres are the ideal opportunity to meet University staff representing Immigration, Admissions, International, Finance, and Student Records, as well as representatives from local banks who will be able to assist you with registering for a UK bank account.
- You will receive an unconditional letter from the University indicating you are full accepted!
Step 7: Pay Tuition Deposit
Once this has been paid you will begin the visa application process and can apply for housing. The university will send you a CAS (Confirmed Acceptance of Study) number. You will need your CAS number to apply for your Visa.
- 7b: Begin Visa Application Process
- You will send the CAS Letter from the University containing your Identification Number needed for the Biometric Appointment required to begin the Visa Application process. All information is on the CAS form you received from the University.
- You will need to allow at least six weeks from getting a CAS letter to the University to the visa arriving. You need your CAS letter by mid-july (July 15) to start the Visa application on gov.uk to make sure you have enough time for a September arrival.

Step 8: Arrival to the UK/University Campus

Attend THE UDA Orientation Weekend In June
Attend the UDA orientation weekend to meet the coaches, academic staff and your future team mates! More information will be sent to you via email. At the Orientation you will also be invited to join UDA on the 360Player app which is the main form of communication for players and families once the season/semester commences.
Personal Statement Guidelines
Write a personal statement that reflects the reasons why you have dedicated yourself to study the course you chose for your degree. Look carefully at the modules within the degree they offer and discuss how this connects with you and your career aspirations. You will submit this as part of your UDA University Application and UDA staff will give you feedback before it is submitted to the University.
It should be a min of 500 words - preferably 700 words. It needs to answer the following; why you want to study in the UK (don't mention soccer), why you have picked the course you are studying; look at the modules in your course and discuss which ones are attractive for you; how does the course you are studying relate to career aspirations.
